Roger is an expert on asbestos, hazardous materials and health, safety and environmental issues with over 45 years of industry experience.

Roger was born in the Rhondda and educated at Swansea University.
He has lectured and worked in the UK, Europe, Canada, the USA, Nigeria, India, the Falkland Islands and Japan and has held numerous prestigious positions, including Branch Chairman of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Member of IOSH Standard Committee, Funding Board Member of UKATA and Advisor to the Secretary of State for Scotland on Sustainable Development.
His marine experience includes the project management of large scale asbestos surveys and removal programmes on ships and FPSO’s in international waters.

Roger was the first personal professor at Glasgow Caledonian University and subsequently very successfully completed two terms of three years as Chief Executive of the Centre for Environmental & Waste Management at the University of Paisley. Since 1998, Roger has headed the ACS Group of Companies and continues to work and lecture world-wide. He is also a highly regarded Expert Witness in asbestos related court cases. This has included cases in the Court of Session in Scotland, The High Court in England, and High Courts of Ireland and Australia, and The Royal Court of Justice in London as well as acting as Court Appointed Expert in the High Court in London. Roger is now recognised as the a leading authority on maritime asbestos related legal cases.

In October 2000 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Continuing his journey of excellence, he was subsequently elected as a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IoP) in July 2003, showcasing his commitment to advancing knowledge in the scientific realm. In November 2005, he further solidified his position as a leader in occupational safety by being elected as a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). He was also awarded with the IOSH lifetime achievement award for services to Health & Safety.

In April 2014, he was honoured with the prestigious IOSH President’s Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding contributions to Health & Safety in the UK. In September 2016 Roger received the prestigious Silver Medal Award for Meritorious Endeavours in Environmental Health, presented by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS). In July 2018, Roger's remarkable achievements in the Asbestos Industry were celebrated with the Life Time Achievement Award from the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association.

Beyond Roger's incredible career, he finds solace and joy in his spare time relaxing on his boat, sailing off the West Coast of Scotland.
